Menopause Management

Menopause management is best tailored to each individual. You may not want anything other than the confirmation that your symptoms are menopause related.

Without management, the symptoms we’ve discussed can last a few years in most women.

There are many ways of managing menopausal symptoms and Integriti Doctors may signpost you towards our allied health network including dieticians, physiotherapists, and exercise physiologists, amongst others to help manage your symptoms.

A range of medication options also exists. This includes both hormonal and non-hormonal options.

Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT) is a highly effective treatment for the symptoms of the menopause. It replaces the oestrogen hormone that your ovaries stop making once you are menopausal. It has benefits and risks. Discuss the various hormone replacement therapy (HRT) treatments with your Integriti GP.

HRT is available as:

  • Tablets.
  • Skin patches.
  • Gels to apply to the skin.
  • Nasal spray.
  • Tablets to insert into the vagina (pessaries).
  • Cream to insert into the vagina or apply to the genital area.
  • Vaginal ring.
  • There are several brands for each of these types of HRT. All deliver a set dose of oestrogen (with or without progestogen) into your bloodstream.

Non hormonal tablets can help with hot flushes and mood changes and a range of options exist, your Integriti doctor will be able to help you with what would be suitable for you.

It is important to understand that there are management options other than and as well as HRT for menopausal symptoms. Please discuss with your Femma GP as they have referral pathways to methods accessible via our affiliated Femma Allied Health Professionals.

Femma is on a mission to challenge the status quo and bridge the knowledge gap between women and their hormones.
